The biggest factor to the Austin home starts increase is due to increased employment.  The Austin area produced 15,500 net jobs for the 12 months that ended in August, a 2 percent growth rate, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.  There is absolutely no question that employed people are able to buy houses and that a healthy job market leads to a healthy housing market.
