A year ago, 49% were expecting further home price declines while only 32% said they though prices were on their way up.

This year, according to mortgage finance firm Fannie Mae,  for the first time in the three-year history of the survey, a majority of respondents said they expect prices to increase.   51% of those questioned in April believe prices will rise in the next 12 months, while only 35% are projecting a drop in prices.

“Crossing the 50% threshold marks a significant milestone, as most Americans believe a housing recovery is truly occurring throughout the country,” said Doug Duncan, chief economist for Fannie Mae.  – Money.cnn.com

• 2.6 – Months of inventory* of single-family homes, 1.8 months less than March 2012.
